Day 159 – Mile 2517.2 – 2543.3

Tentsite (1) to Tentsite (4)

Miles to go: 111.9

Canada: 2655.2

With 76.6miles to go to ‘Rainy Pass’ and a road from which you can hitch into town we needed to split the miles left into 3 days (approx. 25m/day). So chose a tentsite about 25miles further on.

Now it’s easy to say you’re gonna hike 25miles but the terrain dictates how difficult those miles are. Today was a tough one, although the weather helped as it was mostly sunny with a few fluffy white clouds.

Once to the top of the ridge we were climbing yesterday night, the trail goes down, down, down to cross ‘Milk Creek’ only to climb 2,500ft straight back up again, then down, down, down again (through forest with lots of blowdowns) to tonight’s camp spot.

I’d set off from camp a few minutes before the others knowing they’d easily catch me as they are much faster. However, having gone slightly the wrong way at the start of the day I wasn’t sure if I was in front or behind so spent most of the day hiking alone. Luckily we’d agreed on our tentsite before I set off, so now we’re reunited again.
